Tips on Walking - Plantar Fascittis

Walking is one of the easiest, safest, cheapest, and funnest
exercises that can be done, but it can still lead to pain. Every
year there are nearly 250,000 walkers that have problems because
of pain while walking, or they aggravate and old injury. This
problem leads to another problem, and that is after you start
getting a pain you decide to stop exercising to heal back up,
you lose motivation, muscle tone, and soon start to gain weight.
One common problem is tenderness on your heel or anywhere on
the bottom of your foot this could be the result of PLANTAR
FASCIITIS. This is the band of tissue that runs from your heel
bone to the ball of your foot. This area of your foot has a
dual-purpose, it's a shock absorber and arch support. When it is
strained, small tears develop and the tissue stiff-ens as a
protective response. Walkers who over-work the area when walking
on hard surfaces like concrete and black top are usually wearing
hard shoes that doesn't give any when the foot lands.
Inflammation may be the result of an abrupt change or increase
in your normal walking routine. Walkers with high arches or who
walk on the insides of their feet are particularly susceptible.
Signs that you have plan-tar fasciitis are pain in your heel or
arch first thing in the morning. It is important that you seek
medical treatment because this can cause a buildup of calcium,
which can create a painful, bone growth around the heel known as
a heel spur.
For pain relief try standing and placing your barefoot on a
tennis ball and rolling it back and forth. It would probably be
a good idea to hold on to a chair or some other sturdy object to
assure you don't lose your balance and fall.
When shopping for shoes make sure that you choose walking shoes
that are not too flexible in the middle. You need them to be
bendable at the ball but provide stiffness and support at the
arch.

Tips To Sleeping Better

Even the most ambitious people find it difficult to wake up early in the morning so here are some tips that will help you to rise and shine.
  • Prior to going to bed think only of good thoughts, and write a note and place it where it will be the first thing you see in the morning to remind yourself of something that you have to look forward to that is fun or exciting. This can be about anything that you truly enjoy, like finding out whats going to happen on The Young & The Restless.
  • Remember to keep your room temperature between 60 and 70 degrees, a warm room may feel great and help you to go to sleep faster, but it will help you to feel groggy in the morning.
  • When the alarm goes off get up! Remember the old saying that if you snooze you lose, so don’t hit that snooze button. The big reason is that your brain won’t let you fall into a more restful sleep because it realizes in a few minutes you will be awaken again, so you end up waking up tired.
  • After you have waken up and seen the note you have left for yourself take time to visualize your day this will help energize and motivate you.

Weight Loss and Obesity

Obesity is something that you hear about almost daily its on
the TV, Newspapers, and magazines. There are many reasons why a
person may have weight problems, the important thing is to
recognize the problem and take steps to control your weight and
take responsibility for it. Now what I mean by taking
responsibly is that you realize that it may be a result of not
exercising not sleeping right not drinking enough water, and
last but not least not eating right. Take the responsibility for
your actions but don't beat yourself up . Now when is a person
considered obese. When their weight is 20% or more above normal
weight. The most common measure of obesity is the body mass
index or BMI . A person is considered obese if his or her BMI is
over 30. Within the obese classification, level 1 (high risk) is
a BMI of 30-34.9, level II (very high risk) is a BMI of 35-39.9
and level III is a BMI of more than 40 (is extremely high risk).
Here are some examples of a male and a female that are an
extremely high-risk category, a man that is 5'10" weighs 300
pounds and a 5'4" female weighs 250 pounds.
Don't judge, blame, or hate yourself, realizing you have a
problem and deciding you need to change is the key to start
working towards a healthier and more productive life.

Success In Weight Management

Being successful in weight management involves reducing the
amount of calories you take in, and making sure you are
exercising at least 3 times a week and this exercise should be
something that will shock your body. What I mean with shocking
body is an exercise that will have you doing something that you
don't normally do, for an example if you deliver mail and all
you do is walk door to door delivering mail all day then you
won't get a lot of benefit with walking. If you sit behind a
desk all day then walking can benefit you.
It is important that you slow down when you are eating, put
your fork down between bites and chew all of your food
thoroughly, you will find that you may not need as much, it
takes a little time for your stomach to signal your brain that
you are full. Make sure when you are eating you are
concentrating on eating and not trying to eat while watching the
TV or reading it seems everyone today wants to watch their
favorite show or read the newspaper, and make sure you are
sitting down.
It is important that you be realistic in approaching your
weight loss and be positive, don't sit around looking in the
miror thinking negative thoughts. Thinking thoughts of I am fat,
no body wants me, or whatever your negative thoughts will only
make losing weight harder, after all I am sure you realize that
being depressed a lot of the times to eating more.

Diabetes & Exercising

Depending on how much you exercise or how active your life is
you will need to be sure and eat regularly and eat appropriate
amounts of a balanced diet. For most people following a schedule
for meals, snacks, and physical activity is best and remember to
always follow the advice from your health care team. Physical
activity is an important part of living a healthy and productive
life as well as controlling your blood glucose.
These are things you need to talk with your doctor and the
members of your health care team before performing any typr of
exercise, what types of exercise are safe for you, is it ok to
exercise if your blood glucose level is high, should you have a
snack before you exercise. These are things you need to talk
over with your qualified medical team, people that have accurate
information concerning your health.
After you have talked to your doctor and they have given you
permission to exercise you will need to make sure your shoes fit
well and that your socks stay clean and dry. After exercising
check your feet for redness or sores and call your doctor if you
have any sore that does not heal, Before exercising make sure
you warm up prior to exercising then cool down when you are
done. Exercise with a friend this is important, as you don't
want to be alone and go into shock and be sure to carry snacks
with you that will help you in the event you go start having an
attack, or glucose tablets to treat low blood glucose.

Reasons To Drink Water

Drinking water is an important part of you living a healthy and
productive life, and is a very necessary componet if you are
dieting. Your body requires water to burn calories so it is
important that you drink an adequate amount, starving your body

body creates toxins as it is burning calories, and water plays a

your muscles; and a reduction in the supply of oxygen to your
muscles can make you feel tired. Water is necessary to help
maintain muscle tone by assisting muscles in their ability to
contract, and it lubricates your joints.
So it is important to drink at least eight glasses of water and
each glass should have 8 oz's of water, and drinking water when
we are eating will help us to feel full and satisfied quicker.
When drinking water try drinking water as cold as you feel
